Serena Williams scripts history at Wimbledon today when she outlasts Angelique Kerber in the finals of Wimbledon 2016.
She wins her 22 grand slam, and now stands equal to Steffi Graff with 22 grand slam titles. Kerber was simply no match to Serena. And at 35 years of age Serena still has enough to defeat her much younger opponent, who was always looking clueless to some of the shots that Serena was exhibiting at the Centre Court.
At 5-5 in the first set, it seemed as if Kerber may give Serena a tough time for her 22nd grand slam title, but the set slipped as Serena bags it at 7-5. The pressure was too much to handle for Kerber at 3-4 in the second set, and she lost the service game to provide a decisive service break to Serena. After winning the 8th game in the second set, to go 5-3 up, Serena served out the match successfully for the title to win the second set 6-3.
At the post match presentation ceremony, Kerber heaped praises on Serena with her voice choked with emotions.
